The EFOY cell uses methanol as a fuel to produce electricity.

Methanol is an extremely fine, liquid fuel composed of only one type
molecule. SFC continually monitors the fuel to prevent contamination and
even provides a seal of purity.
SFC has designed special EFOY fuel cartridges to protect the methanol
against contamination and to guarantee safe, convenient use.

Every fuel cartridge comes equiped with a safety valve that prevents
spillage. It only opens if the fuel cartridge has been connected to an EFOY
fuel cell. If the fuel cartridge is removed, the safety valve will reseal
hermetically. This solution is alot safer, cleaner and more convenient than
filling a gas-powered generator.

The GS seal, awarded by Germany's TUV SUD inspection laboratories, is your
proof that EFOY fuel cartridges confirm to the highest safety standards.

We now sell the EFOY fuel cells for those of you looking for a greener way to power your caravans. Fuel cells are ideal for those on the move and need clean, quiet mobile power.

EFOY Fuel Cells connect to the existing battery as the battery protects against any possible power peaks. The fuel cell gives constant power keeping the battery constantly charged.

Therefore high powered electrical appliances such as microwaves and hairdryers can be used via AC/DC converters whilst a constant power source for lighting and heating remains constant. A 5 litre cartridge can run a caravan or motorhome indepently for up to 2 weeks.

Which is the right model for you?

Depending on your usage then there are 4 models available differing in performance, usage and vehicle size.

The EFOY 600 gives 600 watts a day covering a basic load when little power is used
The EFOY 900 gives 900 watts a day giving independence for low to medium power loads
The EFOY 1200 gives 1200 watts a day providing year round independence
The EFOY 1600 gives 1600 watts a day for heavy usage

Is it possible to power a caravan or motorhome on just 50 watts?

The average usage of a caravan or motorhome a day is 600 watts a day (25watts) and about 900 in the summer (50 watts) increasing in the winter to 1200 a day (50 watts). Heavier usage would be 1600 watts a day (67 watts). For this reason the fuel cells are broken down in to these catergories.

The base loads e.g. 900 watts, are over the day with a peak load (50 watts) the brief use of say a kettle or hairdryer.

For how long does a fuel cell last?

They last a long time and have various advantages over batteries
They don’t discharge
Their maximum capacity doesn’t fall off quickly
The don’t deep discharge
The fuel cell generates electricity but doesn’t have any working parts, therefore it doesn’t have any moving parts.

Solar Panels

The fuel cells can be used via hybrid system to power solar panels. The fuel cells can be installed so that they only function when the solar panel cannot provide enough power due to weather conditions.

Solar energy is fascinating but solar systems only work if the sun is shining directly, i.e. no shade and at the right angle of incidence, on the solar panel.

That‘s not the case in most situations such as cloudy weather, nighttime, fog, rain, snow, under trees, etc. Motor home owners often seek shade in the summertime, rendering a solar system practically useless. Moreover, the very low efficiency of solar cells (typically < 15 %) means that enormous areas are necessary and these are often not available. This space requirement leads to such typical problems as wind and snow loading, vandalism, etc. A typical solar panel with a 100-watt module provides an average of 400 Wh per day in Europe – only if the weather is good. Our entry-level EFOY600 provides 600 Wh per day and does so reliably, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
