A police officer has suffered minor injuries after been involved in a chase to apprehend caravan thieves in Preston.

The caravan was stolen from Bamber’s Lane, Blackpool by 3 men wearing balaclavas.  Police were notified at 8pm on Sunday and took up pursuit on the motorway near Preston.  The thieves were towing the caravan in a Mitsubishi Shogun and crashed into the police car at the M61 junction with M6.

The Shogun swung out of control and overturned before crashing into the crash barrier.  The driver had to be cut free from the car by the Fire Brigade.
